Earliest known Koffarnus family is Frank (Friederich) (1845-1920) and Anna Deklat (1848-1924). Both born in Germany. Based on 1900 census Frank immigrated in 1861 and Anna immigrated in 1858. The 1880 and 1900 US Census indicates this family in first settled in Calumet, Chilton County, Wisconsin. Friederich "Fred" married after he arrived in the US and had at least twelve children. Descendants lived in Winnebago, Clark and Martin counties before spreading throughout the US. Nothing more is known of the origin in Germany of this family. One person We've contacted says Frank's father was Heinrich, mother unknown. They lived in Calumet County WI. Most descendents lived in Wisconsin until at least 1930. We've been researching the Koffarnus family because we believe it may be a part of the Kobernuss/Kubbernuss line from Mecklenburg Germany. More on this at: http://kobernus.com/
